Kathy - you are the first person I've been able to find with anything about William A. Bolen, who may be my great grandfather. I had hit a dead-end trying to find anything on him. My question to you is, does the "A" stand for Abbott, and what is your source for that name, date of birth, etc.? I would like to follow up on that. In response to your inquiry, if the person you listed was William A(bbott) Bolen, and it is my great-grandfather, he was likely not Melungeon because of blond hair and blue eyes and the fact that my grandfather, Walter Jewell Bolen, spoke of his parents being German.
