Hello,

I found a large, very old, tattered bible for the Bolen/Bolden family of Iowa & Nebraska. It is in very poor condition with one cover missing, some pages torn and missing. It would be a treasure trove for someone who would appreciate it. If you can prove a connection, I will mail the Bible to you for the cost of postage.

James A Bolden m. Elizabeth Spicer 11/23/1834
James Alexander Bolden b. 8/13/1811
Elizabeth Spicer b. 10/18/1806
Mary Elizabeth Bolden b. 8/4/1837
Thomas Jefferson Bolden b. 3/5/1840
Thomas J. Bolen m. Elizabeth A. Miller 8/21/1862
Erastus Matheny adopted in the family in the fall of 1837, supposed to be 12 years old in February 1858
George McClellan Bolen b. 6/3/1863
Edward Sherman Bolen b. 7/24/1865
Laura Jane Bolen b. 12/16/1869
Frank Leslie Bolen b. 8/17/1875
Mary Elizabeth Bolden d. 10/4/1837, aged two months.
3 children listed as died in infancy or stillborn
Mary Spicer d. 2/21/1846, departed this life in her 78th year of her age (hard to read and dates don't match up.)
Elizabeth Bolen d. 4/17/1876

There are two letters written by a woman. One is to her brother and sister, the other to her children. The letters were written from Bertrand, Nebraska.

There is a letter, postmarked 10/9/1902 from George M. Bolen, County Treasurer Gosper County, Elwood, Nebraska written to his parents, T. J. Bolen, Clarinda, Iowa.

Some of the handwriting is hard to read, so my interpretation may be off. I am not a Bolen/Bolden family member or researcher, and do not visit this site. Please contact me directly.

Karen
