Am a descendant of William Monroe RYE , eldest son of Solomon RYE II and Elizabeth Williams, b. 11 MAR 1816 in Yellow Creek area, Dickson Co., TN, and lived there until the family migrated to Lawrence Co., TN in the early 1820's. 1820 TN and 1830 U.S. Census data suggest that Solomon II was married prior to Elizabeth WILLIAMS. It is believedd that sometime during this period Solomon RYE II's first wife and mother of William Monroe RYE died. Research to date as yet to reveal her given name and maiden surname. Solomon RYE II married (2) Elizabeth WILLIAMS. William Monroe RYE m. (1) Ann BOWLING/BOLLING, daughter of William BOWLING/BOLLING of Madison, Haywood and Hardeman Co., TN, on 10 NOV 1833 in Lawrence Co., AL. Circa 1840 Solomon RYE II and family including William Monroe RYE migrated from Lawrence Co., AL to Marion Co., AL. Solomon RYE II and all family except William Monroe RYE then migrated just across the MS/AL state line to Monroe Co., MS. Children born to William Monroe RYE and Ann BOWLING/BOLLING were (1) John M., b. 1835 in Haywood Co., TN, (2) Andrew Jackson b. 1836, (3) William T. b. 1841, (4) twins James and Mary b. 1841, (5) Alexander Houston b. 1845, (6) Henry b. 1847, (7) Wesley b. 1848, (8) Robert W. b 1849, (9) Matilda b. 1850. Shortly after Matilda was born, Ann BOWLING/BOLLING RYE died and William Monroe RYE m. (2) Elizabeth JEFFREYS and had (1) George b. 1859, (2) Polly, (3) Molly, and (4) Sarah. William Monroe RYE died 09 JAN 1905 in Marion Co., AL and is buried in the Cooper Freewill Baptist Church Cemetery.
