Do you have any information on how Sallie Shelton died? My mother-in-law interviewed an elderly man in Pontotoc County, MS in 1976 who recalled that Charlie Bolen killed an Afro-American who killed Charlie's wife. It appears from the transcripts from the interview that Charlie was having an affair with the Black man's wife. The Black man attempted to shoot Charlie, but that Charlie's wife jumped in front of her husband and was killed instead. Charlie killed the Black man and it never came to trial. The Charlie appears to be Charles Joyner Bolen because he lists at least two of his daughters. It is the same Charles who was a marshall for many years.
