Pierre,
Thank you so much for the quick response.I truly "value" your expertise!
I may have located something viable, but will need to use SNAIL MAIL to follow up on.In addition to "possible" surname changes (i.e. Burgess, Bolger & Bulger), have you stumbled across the possibility of Baltes?
Utilizing SOUNDEX, I located THIS lead just last night at www.ancestry.com.....
I had a theory about the "sole" BOLDUC family that I found living in MN (in 1880 Census), wherein two of the children were born in OH.....
Refresh:The mom & dad (Charles) were from Quebec, Canada. Their first daughter was born also in Quebec, the next two children were born in OH, the balance five children were born in MN......then some of the children returned to Canada....(including a 12 year old George BOLDUC in 1901!; My "sought" George BOLDUCE was born in 1890; very close).
Well, get this. The below LAND RECORDS are for a George BALTES (which could EASILY be a mispelling of BOLDUC/E; depending on CLERK who wrote the name down; note mispellings are COMMON in same).
Now, normally, you actually SHOULD have had access to VIEW the actual docment.I went in to take a peek at it....Guess what? All this land is Indian Land Reservation that a George Baltes purchased! All 120 Acres (purchased in 1848, 1852 & 1858are on the Wisconsin/Minnesota Border!(When I clicked to VIEW, it told me that as of Dec 2001, because it referred to Indian Reservation Land, that there is a "court order" barring the viewing of....)

I have to wonder if George BOLDUCE's father, or grandfather, wasn't also a "George" & perhaps this may have been HOW he met his Indian bride?I'm having a HARD TIME getting past her having a last name of CONLEY!!! (buying it, if you know what I mean).
And/or, if my "theory" goes sour, perhaps this post may aid another BOLDUC family!
Best Wishes Pierre! You're truly a gem!!!
Sincerely,
