Hi Marie,
Boisvert is a French Canadian name. Some times they would use Greenwood to protect themselves from the British even when living in Quebec. But usually until families started moving to the United States they used the name Boisvert. My family arrived in 1854 from St. Francois du Lac Yamaska Quebec to Wisconsin. They changed their name from Boisvert (wood green) to Greenwood right away. I have no English blood what so ever, even though my maiden name is Greenwood.
