Hi Barbara,
I'm descended from a Mary Boice, from Ireland. I'm wondering whether she could have been a sister of your Isabel.
I don't know her exact date of birth, but it was around 1800. She married John Kerr, and had at least two children: Eliza (1821) and Isabella, born in Dungannon, Tyrone.
Mary's father was a French Hugenot refugee whose family had all perished in the persecutions after the recovation of the Edict of Nantes, and who himself escaped in an English man' o war to Ireland. He was a divinity student and later an interpreter. I don't know his first name, unfortunately.
If you think their could be a connection here, please let me know.
Thanks,
Emma
