re: Bohnet family origins
This is a simple addition to the previous message. It is also noted in the death register that Thoma Bohnet b. 1601, remained Roman Catholic until he died. This does away with the theory that the Bohnet family (Bonnet) was French Protestant and had to flee to Wuerttemberg.I am a Lutheran pastor and have a good basic knowledge of the historical goings-on of that time.Thoma's son, Johannes, born 1637 in Schapach? is noted as being Lutheran (the original term is "evangelisch" which then meant what Lutheran or Evangelical Lutheran means in the English language. The state church of Wuerttemberg became Lutheran at the time of the Reformation.Roman Catholics may have been "tolerated" in some cities and in some areas that were annexed to the Kingdom of Wuerttemberg after the Reformation.
