Hi Dennis
I know this is an old posting but hope it reaches you.I have come across this information and I am taking it directly out of my notes.
Johannes brought his wife Eleanor and youngest child Rosa over to America on 30 Sept 1912, on the SS President Lincoln.Their Port of Departure was Cushaven, Hamburg, Germany.Upon arrival to Ellis Island they moved to Trenton NJ, where records from Ellis Island showed that their son Adamus and daughter Mary already resided.
The manifest showed that he was a Farmer and that he nor his wife could read or write.
It looks from the historical records of Ellis Island that Johannes must have came to America before 1912, then returned to Palanka, the manifest stated that he had been to New Jersey before. When the children became of age to work they were sent to America??
I question where Johannes died, all the records state that he died in Hungary in 1925, but why would he have left his children and wife, she did not die for another 20 years.
My children are direct descendants.
