Thomas J. Bohn Sr., age 91, of Brewster, died Friday, June 2, 2006, at the Worthington Hospice Cottage. He was born April 12, 1915, in Dehler, Russia, to Thomas and Margaret (Stoessel) Bohn. In 1928, Tom traveled to Havana, Cuba with his mother and brother, Edward. In 1930, they joined their mother in Remsen, IA. They moved onto a farm west of Brewster in 1936.
Tom married Lucy "Rose" Thiner on August 25, 1937, in Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Brewster. The couple worked for and lived with Rose's parents. In 1939, they went on their own into the farming business and in 1948 bought a farm of their own southwest of Brewster. Rose died May 19, 1987. Tom became a resident of the Meadows, in Worthington, in 1996 and moved to the Maple Lawn Nursing Home, in Fulda, in 2004.
He was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church, in Brewster. He enjoyed farming, the sport of boxing and spending time with his family.
Tom is survived by his thirteen children and their spouses, Janet and Eugene Donahue, Brewster; Donald and Vicky Bohn, Victoria; Leo and Patricia Bohn, Brewster; Leola and Richard Vig, Rice; Viola Busch (and the late, Rupert, Sioux Falls, SD; Margaret and Don Malenke, Worthington; Rita and Phil Smith, Worthington; Gerald and Connie Bohn, Boise, ID; Raymond and Peg Bohn, Eagan; Tom Jr. and Joyce Bohn, Brewster; Robert and Tami Bohn, Brewster; Brian and Anita Bohn, Marshall; and Richard Bohn, Seattle, WA; thirty-seven grandchildren; forty-six great grandchildren; eleven great great grandchildren; three brothers, Ed Bohn, Brewster; Andrew (Joyce) Kroeneberger, Spicer; and Joe (Audrey) Kroeneberger, Salina, KS; and a sister, Barbara (Chuck) Rath, Kasson.
He was preceded in death by his father and eight siblings in Russia; mother and step father, Margaret and John Kroeneberger; wife, Rose; grandson, Jared Bohn; two great great grandsons, Jayden and Aiden Winch; three brothers, Monty, Mike and John Kroeneberger; and an infant sister.
Funeral services were held on Monday, June 5, 2006 at Sacred heart Catholic Church in Brewster, officiated by Fr. Andrew Olsem. Burial in the parish cemetery.
