Bohn Family Visit -- German Roots

I was priviledged today to visit with Gernod Bohn in Bad Sobernheim, Germany. He gave me some great insights into the Bohn family. The Bohn family has been living in that general area of Germany since the 1500s.

Gernot Bohn gives his greetings to all the Bohn family members in America.

Gernot is a great collector of family information. His best source of information was a manuscript written by Dr. Udo Krauthausen in 1994. The manuscript is evidently heavily dependent upon church records from Nussbaum.

I am going to try and verify in the information in the manuscript. First impression is that the information looks accurate. It is consistent with the information in the manuscript written by Nellie (Woods) Whedon in 1945 that indicated the seat of the Bohn family was Obermoschel.

My wife is a descendant of Johann Diel Bohn, who immigrated to America in 1741 on the Marlborough, and died in Frederick Co, MD.

Udo Krauthausen gives the father of Johann Friederich Tillman Bohn as Peter Diehl Bohn b.1 Jan 1677. Gernot indicated this is the same person as Johann Diel Bohn. He indicates that Peter died on the way to America with his son, Johann Diel Bohn.

He also has the line traced back to Hans Bohn b.1525.

I have lots of questions. I'm stationed in Germany for two more years, so hopefully I can discover many of those answers.

As I find answers to the questions, I will post them.
