Hi Earl,
On a 1841 deed record of Montgomery Co, GA John Buchanan "of Ware County, Georgia" sold land in Montgomery Co, GA to a Duncan Buchanan of Montgomery Co, GA.Have circumstantial evidence that this John and Duncan Buchanan were actually Bohannons, sons of William Bohannon Sr of Montgomery Co, GA [1820 and 1830 censuses) who had moved to Telfair (now Dodge) Co, GA in 1836 and bought 202 1/2 acres of land there identified as William Buckhannon. He and a son William appear as Bohannons in the 1840 Telfair Co, GA census, where William Sr was enumerated as aged 70-79.In 1844 William Buchanan Sr sold half of his land in Telfair Co, GA to a probable son Joseph Buchanan, and later that year Joseph Buckhannon and William Buckhannon Jr sold the entire 202 1/2 acre tract to William Hamilton of Pulaski Co, GA.This latter deed was witnessed by a John Buckhannon.
This suggests that William Bohannon Sr had sons William Jr, Joseph, John, and Duncan. The spelling of the Bohannon name is variable in the records. That John Bohannon was referred to as residing in Ware Co, GA in 1841 suggests that he may be the Bohannon ancestor that you are looking for.He was born between 1805-10.I have not further researched him in Ware Co.
