I have some information on Julius Bohannon's family. His father was Richard Bohannon, who had three wives.
4. 1 Richard Bohannon of Jefferson County b. 11 Dec 1748; d. 1815
First marriage about 1769 to Elizabeth Blackburn
Second marrieage to Catherine Herndon in 1789
Third marriage to Deborah Pearce, on 25 Jan 1806 in Shelby County, Kentucky
Name: BOHANNON, Richard [Sr.]
Prepared: 10-07-1814
Probated: 3-13-1815
Source: Cook, Michael L. and Bettie A. Cummings Cook. 1987. "Jefferson
County, KY, Records." Volume IV. Evansville, IN: Cook Publications. p. 73.
p. 19. Will of Richard Bohannon, "weak and low in body," asks that all
just debts be paid, and lends to wife Deborah Bohannon the tract of land
whereon he now lives, supposed to contain 125 acres, the negro boy Glasgow,
and negro girl Easter, the brown Paymaster mare, two featherbeds and
furniture, a third part of all the cattle, sheep and hogs, a third part of
the household and kitchen furniture and farming tools, the cupboard with
all the crockery and glassware within with one dozen silver
spoons. Requests that at her death she divide the same with his three
youngest sons as a small memorial of their father. Should she remarry,
Glasgow to be taken into possession by the executors and hired out to the
best advantage until his two sons Pearce Bohannon and William Bohannon
arrive at age 21, and then Glasgow to be sold and money equally divided
between the three youngest sons. At wife's death all the above property to
be divided between Pearce Bohannon, William Bohannon, and Henry Bohannon,
and should any of them die before being of age, the survivor or survivors
to equally divide. Executors not to neglect the education of the three
said youngest sons. When they arrive at proper age, they are to be put to
some business in which they can get their living. Gives to William, Pearce
and Henry $750.00 which is to be put in the hands of his friend, Isaac
Owings, to keep at interest to best advantage for their use, including
schooling.
To Elizabeth Bohannon, Jane Bohannon and Ambrose Bohannon, his children, he
gives eight negroes; to Elizabeth, the negroes Andrew and Nancy valued at
$850.00; to Jane, the negroes Liddy, Keziah and Coley, valued at $780.00;
to Ambrose the negroes Floyd, Matilda and little Liddy, valued at
$700.00. To Jane a featherbed and furniture and $50.00. To Ambrose,
$200.00 to be put into the hands of testator's son Richard Bohannon with
the negroes given him, the money to be put out at interest and remit to
Ambrose from time to time as may be necessary. To son Larkin Bohannon, all
accounts, bonds, executions that testator has against him, with all
testator's clothes. After paying all the legacies, and what is given to
wife, the remainder of the estate to be equally divided between sons George
Bohannon and Julius Bohannon. Should Ambrose or Jane die before they come
of age, the survivor to inherit the others part. Should the old negro
woman Liddy ever become an expense to the estate, the expense to be paid by
Ambrose, Elizabeth and Jane. Should any of the lands testator has sold to
Isaac Owings ever be lost to better claim, the damages are to be paid by
George, Julius, Pearce, William, Henry and Ambrose in proportion to the
money herein given them.
Executors: George Bohannon, Julius Bohannon, and wife Deborah
Witnesses: William Clayton, John Netherton and James Bartlett.
