You may be interested to know that Bohannon orBohannan, in Ireland at least, was often adapted to Bohan, Buchanan, Baughan,Bohagan and believe it or not Baxter. Some of my Baxter ancestors c.1820 were Bohannons etc.
See "The Surnames of Ireland" by Edward MacLysaght published by The Irish Academic Press in 1957 and reprinted several times. Bohannon is mostly associated with Co Clare.
