John Bogue 1600's

I am searching for John Bogue. Family history has it that he was taken from his home by the king's dragoons and carried to the Cross of Glascow and beheaded in the time of the protestants on refusing to subscribe to popery.I do not know the name of his wife but he had a daughter named Janett who married William Brown. Does this sound familiar to anyone? The spelling of Bogue may be wrong of course.I don't have accurate dates either. Their son James came to America and married Mary Thomson in 1751. I have a lot to share after that.
Thanks for any help you can give.
Joan
