The connection between Thomas Bogle and William Randall Bogle and Julia Elytte Jones in Cannon Co, TN in 1840 has already been discussed.Furthermore, Thomas Bogle married Nancy Jane Elkins.
Elkins ancestors trace back to Buncombe and Burke Cos, NC in the 1790s.Gabriel Elkins eventually moved to Warren Co, TN probably between about 1810 and 1812.William Elkins, born in NC, was living in Cannon Co, TN in 1840.By 1850 he had moved his family to Marion Co, AR.They were still there in 1860, as was the John Moses Estes family (John Moses Estes' wife was Charlotte Elkins).
Thomas Bogle and wife Nancy Jane are still found in Cannon Co, TN in 1860, but by 1880 they're living in Marion Co, AR.The William Randall Bogle children probably moved to Marion Co, AR in abt 1873.Therefore, members of the Elkins family apparently moved to Marion Co, AR about two decades before the Bogle family did.Thomas Bogle and Nancy Jane would have had family/in-laws from both sides of the family there, so probably at least in part the Bogle family moved to Marion Co, AR _because_ the Elkins family had already preceeded them.
It is unknown whether any other families from Cannon Co, TN moved to Marion Co, AR during these two distinct migrations.
Other Elkins families moved to IL (from where?) between about 1831/2, and then on to Lawrence Co, MO between 1834/7, or else came to Lawrence Co by way of KY.They were established in Lawrence Co, MO by 1850.It is unknown whether these Elkins families in southern MO interacted with those Elkins families and descendants living in Marion Co, AR.
