The Bogle family of Daldowie, Scotland
I'm researching this very interesting family and have already found one famous son; George Bogle who was born at Daldowie House - which is near Glasgow, he was the first envoy of the British Empire to the Panchen Lama of Tibet in 1775 and died in Calcutta,India in 1781.
I am particularly interested in one "Andrew Bogle Paterson" who was born in Lanarkshire, emigrated to New South Wales, Australia and had a son named Andrew Barton Paterson - the famous "Banjo" Paterson who composed the famous Australian ballad called "Waltzing Matilda".
I would appreciate any information regarding this important land owning family of the east end of Glasgow.
I have many photograpghs of the old Daldowie estate which contains subjects going back to the Middle ages.
Thanks in anticipation,
Robert Murray,
Glasgow, Scotland.
