Hi again! It was very common thing to change your russian surname to finnish surname before and after WW2. It was easier to get jobs and you melted into finnish population with your new surname. Those days (and even now) russians weren´t the most popular people in Finland. Check Finlands history and you know why :) Thats why Bogdanoff and other russian surnames are rare here in Finland. Joensuu and Lieksa are little cities in eastern part of Finland near Russian border. Now that area is under Russian Federation and they changed Petsamo to Petsenga. Now our family lives in Haukipudas near City of Oulu.
