Hi! I am living here in Finland and my surename is Bogdanoff as you see :) This message is little bit late but if you are still reading this forum here could be some answers to you. My grandfathers name was Vasili Bogdanoff but I donīt think that we are related because he came here in Finland after WW2. The russians occupied some regions from Finland after WW2 and all those people who lived those areas were forced to move in non-occupied regions, thats why my grandfather moved western finland. Notice: my grandfather was finnish citicen before he moved, alltought he had russian name. What our name means is simple: in russian language Bog means God and dan means give. The ending off is just an ending, male russians have ending off or ov and female russians have ending ova. So our name means: given by God. You can e-mail me if you have some other questions in your mind. Iīm sorry if I have typos ect. heikki Notify Administrator about this message?
