You may have gotten this already. I think his parents were Ernestine Julia Kropp (1835 - 1920) & August W. Boese (1814-1891).
They arrived in 1868 in New York from Hamburg, Germany. A Robt is listed as 8 years old. The 1880 census shows them in Sibley, MN.
