BOEN/BOWEN-from New Brunswick?

I believe that before my gr gr grandfather came to Maine from NB, the spelling of our name was actually BOEN. I am sure that many BOWENS actually started out as BOEN. This is a long shot, but are there any BOENS that came through New Brunswick, CANADA into Maine? This appears to be where William S. Bowen/BOEN enters the US. My gr grandfather was John Bowen of the 1st Maine Heavy Artillery and enlisted at Bangor.

Regards:
James Bowen
