Looking forlineage of George Boehmer.
George Boehmer, one of two men (the other being James H. Smith) sent from Washington D.C. to Colorado Springs July, 1873 to determine feasibility of using Pike's Peak as site for United States Signal Service (weather bureau). "Mr. George Boehmer, later of the Smithsonian Institution..."
(*from book: THE PIKE'S PEAK PEOPLE by John Fetler, publishers: The Caxton Printers, Ltd., Caldwell, Idaho, 1966)
From Harper's Weekly, Nov. 8, 1873 issue: "The U.S. Signal Service station on the summit of Pike's Peak was formally dedicated 11th Octoberlast." "...Mr. Boehmer, the observer of the station, responded."
Boehmer is genealogical name; however, I am also interested in history.
Any leads or suggestions welcome.
