This is the second update to the initial posting of 20 June 2007. One line has been confirmed through DNA testing and is included below. The results, initially based upon a Y-12 marker test, which showed a perfect match, were upgraded based to a Y-25 marker test, and again was a perfect match to the three lines already posted. All three Bodines are descended from Jean Bodine (1645-1707/8), of Staten Island, New York. The lines of descent run as follows: .A. LINEAGE OF JEAN BODIN (1645-1702) of Staten Island, New York. JEAN BODIN (1645-1702) ..Vincent (c1690-1744) .Vincent (1733-fl.1800) John (1753-?) It has not yet been proven that he was the father of the next generation, though the relationship appears very likely. .. John (1779/82-1839) . Oliver Hazard Perry (abt. 1819-1889) Oliver Hazard Perry, Jr. (1858-1939) . Perry Alexander (1880-1965) Willis Ramsey (1905-1997) ................................. WILLIS RAMSEY BODINE JR. .William Robert (1823-1881) William T. O. (1860-1952) . John Jay (1888-1956) WAYNE H. BODINE ..Francis (1690/9-fl. 1758) . .Francis (1720/5-fl. 1775) . James (1745-1810/30) . ..Francis (1768-1836) .Bowling (1800/5-1826/30) Bowling (c1826-1850/1) .William Taylor (1849-1891) John Daniel (1881-1949) .Ray Olaf (1928-2006) RONNY O. BODINE James (1772-1843/7) .Andrew (c1810-1868) James J. (1832-1905) .John Newton (1858-1928) John Robert (1885-1980) .Robert Delayne (1922-1997) JERRY BODINE .B. LINEAGE OF WILLIAM BODINE (c1710-), of Orange County, New York. An interesting development was the relationship of William Bodine, of Orange County, New York to the foregoing family of Jean Bodin. A 25-Y marker test showed a match of 24 markers; just a 1-step difference. If there were no relationship between the two lines the difference would have been at least 4 markers. Family Tree DNA reports that the difference of 1 marker indicates a very high probability of relationship. It remains to be determined what the parentage of William Bodine is. WILLIAM BODINE (c1710-) ..William (1738-bef. 1802) .Francis (1764-1849) Elisha (1790-1871) ..Benjamin (1822-1904) .George Emerson (1863-1948) Ernest Preston (1897-1984) ..Marvin .JOSEPH L. BODINE To confirm this lineage as being related to that of Jean Bodin, A above, at least one other Bodine descendant of William Bodine will have to participate in this project. .C. LINEAGE OF JEAN BODIN (c1662-c1745), of Staten Island, New York. To establish a baseline for the descendants of Jean Bodin, husband of Maria Crocheron, Dave Bodines father volunteered to participate in the project. Dave Bodine is webmaster of Dave Bodines Genealogy Web Site at http://freepages.genealogy.rootsweb.ancestry.com/~bodine/ JEAN BODIN (c1662-c1745) ..Jacob (c1684-c1765) .Jacob (1719-c1748) Nicholas Bodine/Bordine (c1746-1814). Who was perhaps the father of: ..Jacob Bordine (1765-1836) .Allen W. (1817-1871) George Washington (1842-1873) ..Adelbert Thurston (1872-) .George Lee BURTON WILLIAM BORDINE .Cornelius (1723-1781) Isaac A. (1752-1818) ..Jacob P. (1788-1855) .Robert Wickliffe (1817-1888) James Robert (1865-1933) ..Charles Sharp (1890-1967) .Robert Orien DAVID ALAN BODINE ..Son .John (1741-1836) Samuel (1787-1872) ..Joseph (1808-before 1860) .Wesley (1828-1904) William H. (1853-1932) ..John Nelson (1877-1961) .Claude Ervin (1896-1973) Robert Carl ..Gregory Erwin .BRETT MONROE BODINE Brett Bodine had traced his ancestry to John Bodine, who was born 1741, probably in Hunterdon County, NJ and who died in Wayne County, OH. He was married to Ann Diltz or Dils. Bretts 25 marker test showed a 23 marker match with that of Dave Bodines line and a 37 marker comparison showed a 34 marker match. Because John Bodine can be traced back to Hunterdon County and the DNA match, it seems highly likely he was a grandson or perhaps a great-grandson of Jean Bodine. Burton Bordine has traced his ancestry to Jacob Bordine (1765-1836), husband of Christiana Marlatt. Jacob died in Orleans County, New York. There is some speculation that he was a son of Nicholas Bodine/Bordine. Burtons DNA results showed a 35 out of 37 markers match with Brett Bodine and 33 out of 37 markers match with the line of Dave Bodine. A relationship exists, but more research is necessary into the ancestry of Jacob Bordine. Two other participants showed no relationship to any of the above lines. One was a Bowden and another was a Bodine, but descended from Jean and Maria (Crocheron) Bodin via an illegitamacy through a daughter several generations down the line. Consequently, the male DNA was broken at that point. Again I encourage male Bodines to join the project and confirm your lineage in a comparison with those presented above.
