I too have found Eli and Job in the 1820 Michigan State Census, and they are the earliest I can find so far. I do wonder if one of these men could be the father of my g.g. grandfather Frank Bodette, born in 1825 in Michigan (The years seem to indicate it is possible if not likely). I do not know Franks father's name, but know he was born in French Canada, as Frank listed it on several U.S. census reports.
