I am a descendent of a Valentine Bockius, born November 10, 1770 in Fredericktown, MD, USA. He died September 4, 1863. He had learned the hatter's trade from his uncle Godfrey, and sailed to Amsterdam, Holland. He stopped in Bielefeldt, Westphalia and worked at his trade. He married (no name for wife), and had two sons: John Charles and Joseph. He came back to America in 1859 and settled in Canton, Ohio
Valentine's parents were John and Eve Stodlin Bockius. John was the son of also a John Bockius who sailed to America with his brothers: Gotfreid and Peter. These 3 brothers were the sons of Ludwig Bockius who died on the voyage.
