Services for Noel "Doc" Thompson, 88, of Heflin, were held March 23 at Edwardsville Baptist Church with the Revs. Brent Thompson and Horace Merrill officiating. Burial will be in Upper Cane Creek Cemetery in Fruithurst with Dryden Funeral Home in charge.
Mr. Thompson died Monday at Cleburne County Nursing Home in Heflin. Mr. Thompson, a lifelong resident of Cleburne County, was retired from Charles Lumber Company. He was a member of Edwardsville Baptist Church and served in the U.S. Army, Military Police, during WWII. He was preceded in death by his wife, Molene Thompson; his parents, Joseph Alex and Ida M. Bobo Thompson; seven brothers, Euell, Ellis, Earl, Jim, Robert, Norman and Joseph Thompson; and sisters, Ellen Charles, Ethel Banister, and Elise Dryden.
Survivors include several nieces and nephews.
Pallbearers were Ernest Charles, David Thompson, Woody Thompson, Mickey Thompson, Junior Cates and Wade Skinner
