Another researcher contacted me and helped fill in some gaps since my last posting. Ernest appears to have been the child of Andrew J Bobbitt and Ella F Ward of Fayette Co (adjacent to Hardeman). He appears as an infant in their household in the 1880 census. He apparently was orphaned and is shown as a nephew in the household of Samuel B Bobbitt in the 1900 Fayette Co census.
However, I am still trying to learn what happened to him. My great aunt is known to be remarried by 1920. I have been trying to learn whether Ernest died or they were divorced. I have been unable to find either of them in the 1910 census.
If anyone has a family Bible, letters, a cemetery marker for Ernest, or any other memorabilia which may shed any light on this, please contact me.
