Bobbitt is generally considered to come from William Bobbitt, Senior of Wales (Don' tthink anyone knows further back than that) and Edward Bobett (First 'Bobbitt' in America). The name itself means "Bob" son of Robert, the syllable itt is a diminutive. Hope that helps!
