I have a Miles Bobbitt, the son of Alpheus Bobbitt and Julia Ann Sledge, born 13 Oct 1843, and married Mary Christian Sledge 28 Nov 1867. The following is an excerpt from a book (About Wars That I Remember And Some That I Don't) written by ,Barnie P. Bobbitt, the grandson of Alpheus Bobbitt and Julia Ann Sledge: "Uncle Miles and Uncle Henry Bobbitt, my Grandfather Alpheus Bobbitt, and my Grandfather Perry all served in the War Between The States, 1861-1865. As a young boy I knew Uncle Miles and adored him. He served as a Confederate Calvery Officer. I am told that when he returned from the war in 1865 he walked down to the creek on the back side of his farm and threw his gun in the creek, and from that moment on, he never again mentioned the war."
This Miles Bobbitt is the Great Uncle of my wife, Jo-Ann (Bobbitt) Turner. Could he be your Miles Bobbitt?
