Wiley J. Bobbitt is William J. [Wiley] Bobbitt in South Carolina and Alabama.
William J. [Wiley] Bobbitt born 12 January 1810 in Lancaster County, South Carolina, was married to 1. Maria Ann Lewis 29 October 1849 in Alabama and 2. Rebecca Shaver. Rebecca Shaver had a son Thomas Jefferson Bobbitt born July 1857. Thomas Jefferson Bobbitt m. Lulu Locklear. They had a daughter Willie Bobbitt. William J. [Wiley] Bobbitt died in 1884.
In the 1 June 1840 US Census, Montgomery, Alabama lists wife and one child under age 5, probably James M. Bobbitt.
In the 1850 US Census District 2, Montgomery, Alabama, William J. [Wiley] Bobbitt lived near his mother Ellendar.
William J. [Wiley] Bobbitt is the son of Lemuel Bobbitt born 1787 in Warren County, North Carolina and died in 1848 and m. Ellendar Greer in 1806 in Lancaster County, South Carolina. Ellendar Greer is the daughter of Thomas Greer of Lancaster County, South Carolina.
Lemuel Bobbitt is the son of William Bobbitt born 1761 Granville [Warren in 1779] County, North Carolina and died 12 Nov 1839 Spartansburg, Chester District, South Carolina and m. Susannah or Sukie James, daughter of Charles James and Mary Acklin.
At the age of 15 Lemuel Bobbitt departed North Carolina with his family for South Carolina where his father was an overseer for a large plantation. In 1828 the family moved to Alabama.
Lemuel Bobbitt is in the 1830 and 1840 Montgomery County, Alabama Census.
If you look at my other posting, now you know there is a Wiley Madison Bobbitt born 24 July 1809 in Christian County, Kentucky who is a Bobbitt cousin.
