Looking for descendants of JOHN JOSEPH BOATWRIGHT (DANIEL5, JAMES4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 31 Dec 1764 in Hanover County, Virginia, and died Abt. 1814 in Cumberland County, Virginia. He married FRANCES ELIZABETH TINSLEY 24 Nov 1785 in Powhatan County, Virginia, daughter of WILLIAM WYATT TINSLEY and ELIZABETH HARRISON. She was born 31 Dec 1764 in Amherst County, Virginia, and died 1830 in Blountsville, Blount County, Alabama.
Or his son MAJOR P. BOATWRIGHT (JOHN JOSEPH6, DANIEL5, JAMES4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 13 Feb 1792 in Amherst County, Virginia, and died Oct 1842 in Trigg County, Kentucky. He married SUSAN BERKLEY 25 Jun 1823 in Logan County, Kentucky. She was born 1800 in Louisiana, and died 1860 in Kentucky.
It seems the majority of dna testers are from JAMES MARTIN BOATWRIGHT (DANIEL5, JAMES4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born 1767 in Hanover County, Virginia, and died Bef. 1850 in Campbell County, Virginia. He married (1) SARAH "SALLY" THOMAS 28 Sep 1789 in Cumberland County, Virginia, daughter of JAMES THOMAS and ELIZABETH CHILDRESS. She was born 1768 in Campbell County, Virginia, and died 1815 in Campbell County, Virginia. He married (2) RHODA MOORE 16 Dec 1816 in Campbell County, Virginia, daughter of MATTHEW MOORE. She was born Abt. 1780 in Virginia. Or from Thomas Boatwright.
I specifically need John Joseph or Major P. descendants. The reason is 'old wives tales' from the Cooke family. A sister of John Joseph and James Martin named LOCKEY BOATWRIGHT (DANIEL5, JAMES4, JOHN3, JOHN2, JOHN1) was born Abt. Abt. 1782 in Cumberland County, Virginia, and died 05 Apr 1820 in Powhatan County, Virginia. She married ISHAM STEGAR 10 Oct 1803 in Cumberland County, Virginia, son of JOHN STEGER and SARAH HARRIS. He was born 29 Mar 1778 in Powhatan County, Virginia, and died 17 Jun 1845 in Powhatan County, Virginia. SARAH HARRIS STEGAR, b. 05 May 1812, Powhatan County, Virginia; m. JAMES EDWARD COOKE, 12 Nov 1834, Powhatan County, Virginia; b. Abt. 1811, Cumberland
County, Virginia; d. 22 May 1855,Chesterfield County, Virginia.
The 'old wives tale' says that either the father of James Edward Cooke who was Stephen Cooke b. 1774 m. Mary Marshall Booker in 1805 had an affair with Frances Elizabeth Tinsley wife of John Joseph when he was 17 years old and had Major P. or James Edward Cooke's grandfather who was James Cooke and had an affair with Jane Martin wife of Daniel Boatwright in 1764 before he married Anna Ford 27 Sep 1764. John Joseph was born 31 Dec 1764. This has more potential since this James Cooke was about the same age as Daniel and Jane, also both James was married and John Joseph was born in 1764.
So, if there are any testers who descend from these two persons and can verify Boatwright DNA let me know. If no one has tested from these two, please do, you might be a Cooke. Also, this is not the first time that the Cooke family has been with the Boatwrights... If you look at FTDNA Boatwright DNA project, the descendant of Ambrose Boatwright has Cooke DNA... Thank you and I hope someone out there can confirm or deny this 'old wives tale'
