Hello. Edward Wing supposedly married Jennie Boatright and brought her to Georgia about 1811-1815. Jennie died, and he married Lucretia Cook in Lincoln County, Georgia in 1821. Edward Wing was supposedly the son of Edward Wing and Mary Lowry, and the family was from Orangeburgh District, S.C. (Lexington County was formed from). Edward Wing appears in both Lincoln County, Georgia and Jones County, Georgia censuses in 1820. In 1827, Edward Wing was a fortunate drawer in the 1827 Georgia Land Lottery. He was living in Gwinnett County, Georgia in 1827. Mary Wing, widow of Gwinnett County, also made a fortunate draw of Land Lot No. 65 in Coweta County, Georgia (District 2). A representative of the Boatright family, James Boatright settled for a time in Coweta County, Georgia, as did other Wing/Boatrights. Travelling the same path as Edward Wing from Lexington County, S.C., to Lincoln County, to Jones County, to Coweta County, were Mark and Ellis Lott. Ellis Lott married Abigail Carpenter in Lincoln County in 1817. Mark Lott married Polly Dennis in Lincoln County in 1823. Mark Lott was in Gwinnett County in December, 1827 when he gave a power of attorney to Ellis Lott of Coweta County to handle the sale of Land Lot No. 65 that he had evidently purchased from Mary Wing, she being the fortunate drawer for No. 65. We may never see evidence of this purchase, because of a fire at Gwinnett County Courthouse. Mark Lott only controlled a 1/8th interest in No. 65. In 1832, Ellis Lott purchased another widow's 1827 fortunate land draw in Coweta County, the land draw of No. 139 (Fifth District) for Winnifred Henderson, who lived in Ware County, Georgia and had as her attorney in fact, Peter Graham. Also in 1832, Ellis Lott sold No. 139 to James Boatright. A Mark Lott got a royal grant on the North Fork of the Edisto River in 1773 (plat was in 1773; grant was in 1774). He stood in line to make his petition with Jacob Holley and John Lott, whose plat was on the Rocky Creek in Chester County, S.C. In 1810, a Mark Lott appears in the Lexington County, S.C. census, along with John Wing and Daniel, William and Morten Boatright. I believe this 1810 Mark Lott was the father of either Mark Lott or Ellis Lott in the deeds I have reported above. Is there any possibility that we are uncertain as to the identity of Mary Lowery or Lowry. Could she have been Mary Lott? Who is the Mary Wing in Gwinnett County in 1827? What was her relationship to Edward Wing who married first Jennie Boatright and second Lucretia Cook? Pat Gresham Descendant of George Lott, Patriot of Fairfield County, S.C.
