Boast Family Genealogy Forum

I am much interested in your BOASTS in Linstead Parva and Metfield. In your earliest generation, you have Robert and John (2) in late 1700's. Having been unable to keep abreast of all the postings by English Boast descendants in this forum since last year, I am delighted at finding there were / are so many BOASTs.
My Greatgrandfather JOHN BOAST lived and died (1832) in Petersburg, Dinwiddie Co., VA. I do not know his birthplace or date, though his father was also JOHN BOAST, an assessor for State of VA, who died in early 1800's Petersburg. John, Jr., was also an assessor (and similar profession) in Petersburg and in Richmond, VA.) In adjoining county, Surry, VA, a ROBERT BOAST, planter, lived with wife Mary. I do not know if the two men were related but, with such a rare surname, it seems probable. The name JOHN was handed down in our family, ROBERT was not --if THAT means anything.
If it helps to identify my BOASTs, Greatgrandfather John Boast, who had sons, JOHN, Jr. and ELLSWORTH BURR BOAST (my grandather), married Mary Charlotte Downman, whose family lines came down from a clique of leading families ,prominent in early VA, (i.e. Downman, Ball, Porteus, Jennings, Lee, etc.). These families were rather wealthy gentry, highly placed socially and stemming from families with titles, their members marrying with Washington, Lee, Jennings, Lee, etc. I mention them to show that probably my BOASTs were of the same class, in VA and in Eng. In what shire / county are Linstead Parva and Metfield located? I meant to thank the several of you who were kind enough to try to help me. Thanks again.
