MOTHER OF CHARLOTTE BOAST

Would appreciate contact with anyone having
info about birth mother of my g-grandmother,
MARY CHARLOTTE (DOWNMAN) BOAST. CHARLOTTE
and older sister FRANCES (DOWNMAN) PLUMB
(called "FANNIE") were born before 1793, the
only known children of RAWLEIGH PORTEUS
DOWNMAN, who named them in his will (1800),
as did his widow, Anne (Downman) Peachey
Downman, who married Francis Muir following
Rawleigh's death. Anne's will (1801) left
the two girls under guardianship of John
McRae of Petersburg, VA. Following McRae's
death (1804 or 1806), the girls were raised
in Petersburg by foster mother. MRS. VIOLET
CLAIBORNE. a widow. VIOLET later m. Richard
Batt (or Bates) in Petersburg. She d. there
or in Richmond City, VA, ca 1830's.
Any information about any of these so-far
eluisive ancestors would be a godsend.
Thanks.
