I have Keziah Rice’s ancestry back to Deacon Edmund Rice who was designated a Freeman on May 13, 1640 at Massachusetts.I believe that our ancestor was a Deacon in the Anglican Church. He was a deputy to the General Court of the Massachusetts Bay Colony (the Massachusetts legislature) representing the Town of Sudbury and served as a magistrate in 1641. If you wish to know our Rice ancestry please contact me. The Rice name as a middle name has been carried down in the Boardman family since the Eighteenth century and continues today by my cousin whose direct line consistently has used Rice as a middle name since James Rice Boardman skipping only Robert Rankin Boardman. It was interesting to find out that my cousin represents both the Rice family and the Boardman family that both have ancient pedigrees back to the Sixteenth century. I also have the Benton side traced back to England in the middle Sixteenth century. This is the family of Issac Bordman Jr.’s wife, Rebecca Benton. Robert Rankin Boardman’s mother-in-law was Martha Candler and it is through her line that we are first cousins to Asa Griggs Candler who founded the Coca Cola Company and owned the grand Tudor Mansion named Callanwolde. Asa named his home after our ancestor Lt. Col. William Candler’s castle in the Barony of Callan, County Kilkenny , Ireland. We are also descended from Col. William Candler who was a Revolutionary War hero. I have our Candler line traced back to the Sixteenth century as well. On the Candler side we are also descended from Sir Henry Hyde who was the father of the first Earl of Clarendon and thus we are second cousins to Queen Mary of England and her sister famous for the style of furniture, Queen Anne. Please email me if you are interested in these lines.
