First Blurton(s) in the USA

Does anyone have any information regarding the first Blurton arrival in the US? I am originally from a relatively large cluster of Blurtons that live in the Humboldt, Tennessee area, where it is frequently said that we are Irish, having arrived first in this country in Boston, as stow-aways on a ship, during the colonial era. Our name is obviously not Irish in origin, which led me to question this account. The English origin of our name also doesn't negate the fact that there may be old Irish families named Blurton. A large number of Blurtons in Tennessee, and throughout the US, believe this tale handed down over the generations. Is there anyone with information to either support or rebuke this claim? Thank you for reading...Joe Blurton - Sherman Oaks, California
