In Philip Fall Taylor's 1917 book, "A Calendar of the Warrants for Land in Kentucky, Granted for Service in the French and Indian War," there is an entry dated 30 Oct 1780 for Francis BLUNT for 500 acres on "Nohn" Creek in Jefferson County (then VA, now KY). There is no "Nohn" Creek in Kentucky, but "Nohn" appears to be a misreading of "Nolin," a creek/river which runs from present day Edmonson Co., along the line between Grayson and Hart Cos., into Hardin Co., then Larue Co. -- all within early Jefferson County.
Events in the French and Indian War are dated 1754-1763, but most of the fighting took place between 1756 and 1760. For Francis to have served in the war, he had to have been born no later than 1744 and was more likely born ten or twenty years earlier.
There is also a Francis BLUNT who shows up on the tax rolls of Woodford Co., KY, in 1795, who may be the same man. The only other BLUNTs -- there were no BLOUNTs -- on the extant 1795 tax rolls in Kentucky are in Nicholas County: Abigail (AMBROSE) BLUNT, widow of Reading BLUNT, Sr., and three of her sons (viz., Andrew, Cyrus, and Reading, Jr.). Reading BLUNT, Sr., was still in Virginia as late as 1791, so he appears not to be closely related to Francis, who was in Kentucky by at least 1780.
Who is this Francis BLUNT? Or were there two? If so, who were they? Any additional information appreciated.
