This might interest someone. Daily Ardmoreite Ardmore, Indian Territory July 11, 1895 SOLOMON BLUNDELL and THEODOCIA MATILDA ALEXANDER, Aged 75 and 50 Years Respectively, are Married Yesterday, DEPUTY CLERK STUART was approached by a venerable looking gentleman whose first question was, “Is this the place where the boys get license to marry?” On being answered affirmatively, the old gentleman said he guessed he would take a set if they didn’t come too high; that he heard various sums named as the prices at which they were being sold. Mr. Stuart, with his accustomed politeness, informed the seeker for information and matrimony that the necessary document would cost him $2.50. “Wal,” replied the would-be groom, “I guess I had better take a set,” and the clerk proceeded to issue the license according to the law and the evidence in the case. The applicant gave his name as SOLOMON BLUNDELL, age 75, residence at Locust, Texas while the lady in the case was set down as MRS. THEODOCIA MATILDA ALEXANDER, age 50, of McMillan, I. T. The next query was for a minister, as the frolicsome groom stated that he wished to avoid the dragging ‘the old gal’ as he termed his prospective bride, through the mud. He found that necessary adjunct to a wedding; the ceremony was dispatched in due form, and the happy twain proceeded on their journey of married felicity. Mr. Stuart jokingly inquired if it was a runaway match to avoid parental objections. To this the groom of three quarters of a century replied: “No, not particularly, we just took a notion to marry and we want it done up as quickly as possible.” Notify Administrator about this message?
