This is to correct the information given in the above message. Miriam was not her name. Her name was Marie (or Mary), and possibly her middle name was Miriam. Information I now have indicates that Marie, daughter of Marx Blum, was born January 10, 1842 in Dettweiler, Alsace Lorraine, and died February 17, 1907 in Berwick, LA. She married Hypolite Fortin (Fortune). He was born July 4, 1830 in Montebello, Canada, and died March 3, 1915 in Berwick, LA.
