My grandfather (George Bloom)1842-1912) was born while his parents were in quartentine in New York City after arriving from Gernamy. He was cristened George Bluhm. His name was changed when he enlisted for the Civil War. He had several brothers who retained the name Bluhm. Interestingly the oldest of his seven children was named Phillip(1868-1913)Phillip's wife was Lucy Hackenburg. The whole Bluhm family lived in Williamsport, PA. Most are buried there.
