I was once in touch with a lovely lady who, though ill, tried to help me locate the name of a Miss (?)Blount Gurkin who had come to Carteret Co., NC at age 12, having been orphaned at age 2. Her grandmother was a Blount who lived along the Pamlico River at "Blount's Creek, Beaufort Co., NC. Her father was a Gurkin and her mother was Penelope Gurganus. Would anyone in that area of NC be willing to help me identify these people? The letter was very sketchy and I am not sure I interpreted it correctly; I have no dates at all. Does it ring a bell with anyone? Thanks for your help.
