Note the following passages from, “The Chowan Blounts”, by Stuart Hall Hill, 1932” “8. Elizabeth Ann Blount, daughter of Joseph Blount and Anne Gray, who married John Cheshire. Their marriage bond was issued in Edenton, December 22, 1312, with Henry King as surety. She was born In 1790. Their children were: The Rev. Joseph Blount Cheshire; Elizabeth Blount Cheshire, who married Duncan McNair; Sarah Cheshire, who married James Webb, of Hillsboro, N. C. . .” [p. 60] “Doctor [Rev. Joseph Blount Cheshire] and Mrs. Cheshire had the following named children: Mary Parker Cheshire, Joseph Blount Cheshire, Jr., Theophilus P. Cheshire, John Cheshire, Elizabeth Toole Cheshire, Annie Gray Cheshire, and Katherine Drane Cheshire.” [P. 61] "Joseph Blount Cheshire, Jr., fifth Protestant Episcopal Bishop of North Carolina, was born in Tarboro, N. C. March 27, 1850, son of the clergyman of the same name. He was educated at the academy in his native town and at Trinity College, Hartford, Connecticut, where he took the degree of A. B. in 1869 and M. A. in 1872. After teaching school for two years, he studied law and was admitted to the Bar in 1872. He practiced his profession in Baltimore and Tarboro until 1878, when he took orders in the Protestant Episcopal Church, being ordained deacon on Easter Day 1878 and priest May 31, 1880. The first three years of his ministry were spent at Chapel Hill, the seat of the University. In 1881 he became Rector of St. Peter's Church in Charlotte, where he continued until he was made Bishop.” [P. 63] I can furnish more if you need it. Sam M. Blount, Jr.
