John Thomas Blount in North Carolina

I am searching for the parents of John Thomas Blount who was born November 25, 1809, in North Carolina. He married Clarissa Ann Cartwright. Together they moved to Bedias, TX. They also lived for some time in Alabama and maybe Missippi but both died in Texas.
There has been some suggestion that his father might be Joseph Gray Blount. Does anyone know anything? Many thanks Linda in Texas
