In Reply to: Anne Blount(1643-1702) d/o Thomas Blount by John M Lee of 2395

The Thomas Blount who d. 1706, NC, was the son of Capt. James Blount. This Thomas Blount had a daughter named Anne, who m. a Wilson. In Prescott's manuscript, at the Southern Historical Collection, University of North Carolina, she says that Anne m. a William Wilson.

It is not certain whether Thomas's daughter Anne was by his unknown lst marriage or his 2nd marriage to Mary Scott. I am inclined to believe she was by the lst marriage.

Thomas Blount's lst wife is unknown, although a few sources have stated she was an Anne Wilson, without proof. Thomas was b. ca. 1645, according to Prescott.

Sir Walter Blount of Sodington, Worcestershire, England, did have a son named Thomas, but his family has not been traced. Sir Walter did not have a son named James. The LDS file you cited is incorrect in showing Sir Walter's son Thomas as dying in l706, NC. The LDS file confuses the 2 Thomases.

As to the Anne Blount, b. 1643, who m. Robert Wilson, I do not know her parentage, but I can tell you with certainty that she was not the daughter of Thomas Blount (ca.1645-1706).

At least one Blount researcher believes that the Anne Blount, who m. Robert Wilson, was the daughter of Mountjoy Blount, who d. 1655. However, I have seen no documentation for this claim.
