Does anyone know of a William BLOUNT, born in the early 1800s who married a Mehalia STRICKLAND? This STRICKLAND family was living in Colleton County, SC until 1845 when they moved to southeast Georgia. So, William was probably in Colleton, SC during this time period. Below is a sketch of the Strickland family. Mehalia was the first child of William Strickland and Rebecca Hyatt/Hiatt.Thanks, Greg Wainright http://members.aol.com/gregwain/genealogy.htm WILLIAM STRICKLAND was born 1797 in SC. About 1827 he married Rebecca HYATT, b. 1810 SC.William and Rebecca's parentage is not known. In both1830 and 1840, William and Rebecca were living in Colleton County, SC. They had 7 children there between 1828 and 1843. About 1845 the family moved to Lowndes County, Georgia where they were in 1850. They moved right next door to Stephen Daniel Strickland, who I think was a very close cousin. By 1860, Rebecca had died and William was living in Ware County, Georgia with his daughter Dicy and her new husband Samuel L. Martin, in the household of Samuel's mother Mary A. Martin. William was a county school teacher. William is buried just below Argyle, Georgia, a town just northeast of Homerville, on land lot 462 in the 7th district of Clinch Co.
