Bingo! My name is Kathy McClain Hutto. My mother is Kathryn L.Blount McClain b.Oct 7, 1927 in FANNIN CO. at Bonham TX. Her father was Howard Lewis Blount b. Dec. 17, 1906 in Cass Co, Tx. His father was Albert Lee Blount
b. March 8, 1881 in Ladonia, Tx. His father was George Washington Blount b. November 9, 1853 and came to Texas by way of Chicago by rail. I will have to dig to find the other info my mother has on him. What I know for sure is that Albert & family moved to Cass Co, TX. for potato farming opportunities that didn't pan out. They had 4 children born in Cass Co, 3 of which died as infants before they left there. They then went to Fairfield, Texas in about 1910. Howard, my g-father, told me of his memories of leaving Cass co. by covered wagon when he was about 5 years old. He walked behind the wagon for as much as he was able. The farming wasn't any better in
there, so they left Fairfield for Fannin Co.
Senator Sam Rayburn's family aslo made the trip to Fannin co during the same time. Howard Blount became a well-know Jersey Breeder and Showman in Texas. George Washington had 6 children. Oldest child, a daughter was Hudie, then Albert Lee,
Russell, Joe (WWI VET), Purtle, Willy, and Boyd.
Momma said she thinks there is some connection to John Nash of Fannin through her mother, Cassie Vermillion Blount, who had a sister, Avis, who married John. she also thinks that her uncle, Bradford Blount, married an Ethel Horn, or Thorn. We'll try to verify some of this, as Bradford and Ethel are living in Longview, TX.
We have more true facts on my g-father's siblings and other ancestors that we are just now compiling into a database. If this is helpfun to you, I will be glad to share more.
