I paged through volume 8 in series 5 of the Pennsylvania Archives and found the following references to Bloss (Blose) militia members: Page 26: Capt. Nicholas Kern’s (Third) Company of the First Battalion of Associators in the County of Northampton, part of the Flying Camp commanded by Col. Hart. 6 August 1776 at Amboy. Conrad Bloss is listed as a private. These men fought bravely at Long Island (under Peter Kichlein) and again at Fort Washington, heavily outnumbered both times. Page 233: Fifth Company of the Third Battalion of Northampton County Militia, 1778. George Bloss is listed as the Second Lieutenant, and Daniel Bloss is listed as a private in the third class. Page 449: Fifth Company of the Sixth Battalion of Northampton County Militia, Commanded by Lt. Col. Henry Geiger, 26 October 1780. Daniel Bloss is listed as a private in the third class. Page 459: Capt. Conrad Reders Company on the Frontiers Against the Indians, being the Sixth Battalion of Northampton County Militia, 1780. George Bloss is listed as a private who had served for 8 days. (This is an active duty roster.) Pages 471 and 527: Capt George Smethers’ Company of the Seventh Class, Sixth Battalion of Northampton County Militia, 11 July 1781. George Bloss is listed as a substitute for John Reedy, serving from 16 May through 16 July for a total of two months and a day. (This is an active duty roster.) Page 510: Fifth Company of the Sixth Battalion of Northampton County Militia, commanded by Col. Henry Geiger and Maj. Frederick Sagler, 1782. Daniel Bloss is listed as a private in the third class, and George Bloss is listed as a private in the seventh class. I hope this helps!
