Re Bloomfield book:
I have a book entitled "The World Book of Bloomfields", published in 1996 by Halbert's Family Heritage USA.
This book is well researched, and has a international list of Bloomfields. As you would expect,this list would only be fraction of the Bloomfields who inhabit this world.
It contains five chapters(approx.150 pages):
1.The great migrations of man - early origins, settlement,development & emigration
2. How names originated - what the Blommfield name means, spelling variations, surname origins,Bloomfield coat of arms & history
3.How early coats of arms were granted - history of heraldry, bearing of arms, symbols meanings, heraldry around the world
4.How to discover your ancestors - write for official records, pedigree chart
5 The Bloomfield around the world - international registry
I am unsure if this is still available, or whether it has been regularly updated. Someone in America may know ?
