I have checked the book, Loyalists in the Southern Campaign of the Rev. War and I found Rueben Bloomfield (the one born ca 1750)in NJ. Pvt. Rueben is shown in Major's Company, the King's American Regt. commanded by Col. Edmund Fanning, 11/15/1779-at Harlem (NY?) Also shown in Mjr. James Grant's King's American Regt. in Georgetown, SC 24 Feb 1781-24 Apr. 1781. Also, in Savannah, GA 25 Oct. 1781-24 Dec. 1781, Also, in Maj. Grant's Co. Savannah, GA 25 Apr.1782-June 24, 1782. Next, in Mjr. John Coffin's Co.,
Flushing Fly, Jan 26 1783.

This group of Loyalists were mustered in at NJ, served in the north, then the above mentioned areas:1783 they were prepared for relocation to Nova Scotia, St. John's River area, and some went from Nova Scotia to England. It is likely that Rueben was in Nova Scotia for at least some period as they were not welcome in NJ, at the time. Some of his mother's Skinner family were also Loyalists, but his father's family were supporters of the American side. Rueben is shown as a Woodbridge NJ property owner in late 1780 tax records so he must have come back to the US at some point...no records found of him being killed in the war.

If anyone is searching for David Bloomfield, he also is shown in the Loyalist records. Let me know if you need that info.
