Jo: I'm relieved to see that this information has been approved. However, there are those who contend that Thomas, son of John Bloodworth, was not the one who was the colonel in the rev war, but, Thomas, the 1/2 brother of John. If you look at the 1790 census of Edgecombe Co, NC, you will see a Thomas Bloodworth there along with a Henry and a Samuel...and many Proctors. That can explain the notion that this Thomas was the brother of Henry and Samuel. This Thomas was married first to Sarah Griffin and they had one child and she died. It is supposed that this Thomas then married Tamsa Proctor in 1802 and moved to Georgia as did Samuel and Henry...my ancestor. Thier father, John, who resided in Anson Co, died on a visit to his son, Thomas, in Morgan Co, GA, and is now buried there in Liberty Co. There was a Thomas Bloodworth in Hanover Co, son of Timothy and Margaret Evans Bloodworth, born there in 1738. He married Susan Rooks. This Thomas would have been 37 years old in 1775. Thomas, son of John Bloodworth, would have been 20 years old in 1775 and a bit young for all the responsibility described to him in your letter. This reasoning makes the verified information above a bit confusing. If I am wrong about any of my own work on these dates, etc., I would love to have help in solving the dilemma Thanks, Sandy Bloodworth Elder
